Lifelike N Scale E-7s
For New River Subdivision modelers the latest Lifelike N scale offering of E-7s in Pere Marquette-C&O livery presented a dilemma. While the engines are beautiful, good runners and inexpensive could we prototypically justify their use in the New River Subdivision. The C&O inherited 12 of these from the Pere Marquette and were they were used primarily in Michigan.
While looking through my C&O references last weekend I noticed a photo of a passenger train with two Pere Marquette-C&O E-7s stopped at Ronceverte, WV. The train was a run through from Chicago. The photo was undated but I suspect it was taken in the early 1950's. Matt Schaefer believes this was an employee picnic train as it consisted entirely of Pullman cars (see story).
So, finding the photo has been good news as we can now purchase the beautiful LL E-7s without having to invent a tale as to why they are in the NRSD.
