New York Central in WV
Many people are surprised to learn that the NYC operated in WV. By acquiring the Kanawha and Michigan RR the NYC reached all the way to Rainelle. After a dispute with the C&O, the NYC and the C&O agreed to operate a joint line called the NF&G in and around of Rainelle. The NYC lines then extended to Swiss, WV. The NF&G controlled the line the rest of the way to Rainelle.
In recent years these lines were operated by Conrail and will convert to CSX ownership after the merger.
